DENNISON -- To help the public learn more about why additional rehabilitation might be needed after a hospital stay, Trinity Hospital Twin City is inviting area residents to "Swing Back into Good Health" at a free swing bed program mini seminar from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 at the hospital's first floor St. Francis Conference room. Those who attend will receive a free blood pressure screening, healthy snacks, tour of one of the hospital's Swing Bed Program suites, educational information and the opportunity to hear from Dr. Galen Durose II, a Board Certified Family practitioner and Swing Bed Program Medical director.
Dr. Durose and members from Trinity Hospital Twin City's Swing Bed Program team will be available to explain how skilled rehabilitation benefits people who need extra time and therapy to heal before returning to the activities of daily living after having an orthopedic surgery or hospital stay. In the Swing Bed Program, patients receive care from an experienced team of professionals including a doctor, nurses, activities coordinator, case manager, dietitian, and physical, occupational and respiratory therapists.
"Just as the body functions best when all the organs and systems work as one, the road to health is best achieved when all those involved in the process work together as a team," explained Dr. Durose. "At the Trinity Hospital Twin City Swing Bed Program, our medical professionals work as a team to speed each person back to health. "
"We frequently get questions about what the Swing Bed Program includes and who qualifies for skilled rehabilitation, and we wanted to offer the community a chance to learn more about these services," shared Tiffany Poland, Trinity Hospital Twin City director of Community Outreach. "There are also a lot of caregivers in the community who want to know more about how they can help their aging parents recover more quickly after a major orthopedic surgery, so this program is designed to provide information to those caregivers as well."
