Fairless 46

GNADENHUTTEN -- With four players scoring in double digits, the host Indian Valley Lady Braves got back on the winning track with a 61-46 Principal's Athletic Conferene win over the visiting Fairless Lady Falcons on Wednesday.

The opening quarter was all the Lady Braves as the hosts jumped to a 22-7 lead, but didn't fair as well the second round with Fairless posting a 15-6 scoring edge with Indian Valley clinging to a 28-22 lead going to the locker room at halftime.

The Lady Falcons shaved two more off the deficit the third round with a 15-13 advantage, but the Lady Braves rebounding in the final eight minutes to erupt for 20 points to limit the visitors to just nine providing the 61-46 final.

Indian Valley hit on 21-of-48 field shots and added 19-of-23 from the charity stripe. Katie Shamel paced the Lady Braves with 18 points followed by Emily Baker with 14, Courtney Emler with 12 and Paige Saho with 11 markers. Sydney Kandray accounted for the other six points for the hosts.

The Lady Braves handed out seven assist with Emler dishing four and Baker two and grabbed six steals with Saho picking off three and Emler a pair. Indian Valley committed 19 turnovers and were whistled for 12 fouls.

Fairless was 18-of-59 from the floor and tacked on 6-of-10 from the bonus line. Jamie Waltz paced the Lady Falcons with 11 points with Becca Fortner close behind with 10. Alley Leeman and Kara Burcaw added eight and seven points, respectively. The visitors collected nine steals with Burcaw grabbing three turned the ball over 15 times and were called for 19 fouls.

Indian Valley also controlled the boards with a 35-25 rebounding advantage with Saho continuing her dominance on the glass to complete the double-double with 15 rebounds, while Shamel also scored a double-double with 13 caroms. Kayla Piper paced Fairless with five rebounds.

Strasburg 41,

Ridgewood 36

STRASBURG --Host Strasburg High held on for a 41-36 to an IVC win over visiting Ridgewood on Wednesday night.

The Lady Tigers were led by Stephanie Schuster with 12 points and also got eight points each from Mackenzie Colombo and Kearstyn Moore.

Senior Kelsey Miller pumped in a game-hig 21 points to pace Ridgewood (7-5, 9-10) while Amanda Lowery added 11 for the Lady Generals.

Garaway 65,

Ridgewood 44

SUGARCREEK -- A big 33 point explosion from Anya Misko lifted the Garaway High Lady Pirates past the visiting Ridgewood High Lady Generals by a 65-44 final score on Saturday in Inter-Valley Conference girls' basketball action.

Adding double figure support for the Lady Pirates were Courtney Putt with 14 and Karissa Swinehart with 12 points.

Senior Kelsey Miller led the Lady Generals with a 21 point effort, while Amanda Lowery chipped in with nine and Laura Frazee added eight markers.

Garaway improves to 19-3 overall and 12-2 in the IVC, while the Lady Generals slip to 10-11 and 8-6 in IVC play.

Newcomerstown 56,

Sandy Valley 46

MAGNOLIA -- Visiting Newcomerstown High took advanatge of opportunities at the foul line to collect a 56-46 Inter-Valley Conference victory over Sandy Valley High on Saturday.

The Lady Trojans converted on 27-of-49 free throw attempts in the contest. Senior standout Allie Hinton led the way for NHS with a sizzling 16-of-19 performance from the charity stripe to finish with 18 points in the contest.

Freshman Karlee Peach chipped in with 16 for Newcomerstown, canning 8-of-12 from the foul line and Sam Watson finished with nine. Senior Lexi Montgomery drilled a pair of three-pointers and finished with seven points for the winners and Amber Kennedy added six.

Hinton also pulled down nine rebounds to lead NHS, and Peach added eight of the Lady Trojans' team total of 35.

Garaway was led by Mercedes Bowling with 19 points, with Avery VanZant adding seven.

Newcomerstown improves to 4-18 overall and 3-11 in IVC play with the victory.
