The American Legion Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431 of Newcomerstown hosted a luncheon for two of its members who received 50-year membership certificates from the American Legion National headquarters.
Several of the officers were present to pay honor to them for their 50 years of service to the American Legion and their communities. The men were Lloyd C. Kail of Dennison, a Korean Conflict veteran, and Paul E. Parrish of Gnadenhutten, a World War II veteran. The officer present for the presentations and luncheon were Commander Glenn Miller, Adjutant Dennis Belle, Trustees and Past Commanders Dennis Ross and James Everhart, and Trustee John Joyner.
The officers were proud to present the awards to them and to honor them with the luncheon in recognition of their service "To God and Country," the motto of the American Legion.
Several of the current members have not paid their 2013 dues and may do so at the Post or by sending them to Adjutant Dennis Belle, 623 S. River St., Newcomerstown, OH 43832.
If you are a veteran and would be interested in joining the American Legion, you may call any of the officers or stop by the Legion Post home and pick up an application or information on the American Legion and its activities. The monthly officers' meeting is the third Monday of the month at 6 p.m. Members and guests are welcome to attend.
