Eric Christopher Kail, 35, of Port Washington, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013.

He was born Sept. 7, 1977, in Tuscarawas County, the son of Dean and Annie (Yanai) Kail of Newcomerstown.

Eric attended Newcomerstown High School and graduated from Buckeye Joint Vocational School in the very first law enforcement class.

He started his law enforcement career at LCI - Lima Correctional Institute, as a correctional officer.

After the correctional job, he was employed at the Tuscarawas County Jail as a correctional officer. He then joined the Newcomerstown Police Department as a patrolman part-time then went to full-time as patrolman/canine officer. He and his "sidekick," Olaf, made an inseparable pair during Olaf's tenure of duty.

Eric then pursued a CDL career making many lifetime friends. His current job was with Gordon Trucking, Sugarcreek.

He also stayed in law enforcement at Newcomerstown as a part-time officer working his shift before his death, Easter Sunday.

He is survived by his parents, Dean and Annie Kail of Newcomerstown; grandmother, Esther Kail of Newcomerstown; aunts and uncles, Lois Grewell, Floyd (Barbara) Stockum, Michael (Mary) Mayhew, Craig (Margaret) Ridgway, Chris (Azy) Yanai, and Paul (Gwen) Yanai; and cousins.

Private funeral services were Thursday, April 4, 2013, in the Coshocton Christian Tabernacle with Pastor Jason Diaz officiating.

Burial followed in the West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.
