NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Tuscarawas County office of Ohio State University Extension will be offering a special holiday edition of its Dining with Diabetes program.

Those with diabetes or pre-diabetes and their family members or caretakers are encouraged to attend.

Preparing nutritious foods that taste good can be difficult at any time of the year. It is no wonder that the holidays present special challenges for individuals with diabetes. Dining with Diabetes During the Holidays will cover topics traditionally discussed in OSU Extension's Dining with Diabetes series as well as focus on special holiday-specific topics. The three-week course will include selection and preparation of foods for the holidays that are low in sugar, fat, and sodium.

Participants will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, exercise, and common diabetes-related medical tests.

Dining with Diabetes During the Holidays will meet on Thursdays, Nov. 14 and 21 and Dec. 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia.

The cost for individuals is $18. To register, contact the OSU Extension office at 330-339-2337, 419 16th St. SW, New Philadelphia; or online at by Nov. 6.
