The 2014 Dennison Railroad Festival, which opens June 3, will feature musical entertainment each night as well as a special day of activities for children, performances by local talent and shows for photography and car enthusiasts.
New to the festival are the Gospel Harmony Boys from Charleston, W.Va., who will take the Gazebo Stage Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., and the Top Ten Ohio Idol contestants, who will sing Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The show will be moved to the First Presbyterian Church on Grant Street if it rains.
The festival has free activities planned for children Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Twin City YMCA staff members will host the event in the Gazebo Stage area. In addition, the Buckeye State Sanctioned Pedal Tractor Pullers will hold an competition for children ages 3 to 11 on Saturday. Registration begins at noon. Pulls start at 1 p.m.
Ribbons will be given to all participants. The top three contestants in each age group will be awarded trophies. The event is free to all children. The winner will advance to the state competition.
Tractors are provided for the contest.
Thursday’s talent show winner will get a $100 grand prize. Second place will receive $75. Third place will earn $50, with $25 going to the fourth place finisher. The competition begins at 7 p.m. on the Railroad Car Stage.
