Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Artifact show at the Olde Main Street Museum and Social Center. The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee is presenting one of the most significant events of the year this coming August. Local historian Denny Ross is sharing his years of research on Newcomerstown's past in a Prehistoric Artifact Show. He will be displaying artifacts of early man from as far back as 10,000 B.C. to 1,000 A.D. You can see the display at the Olde Main Street Museum on 213 W. Canal St., Newcomerstown. They welcome anyone with artifacts (from this area) to bring them to display. Set-up for the artifacts is Friday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 24-hour security will be provided during the entire show.
On Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will also be a Newcomerstown Historical Tour (self-guided with a brochure) beginning at the museum.
On Sunday, Aug. 3 from 1 to 4 p,m., there will be a Bicentennial Historical Scavenger Hunt. This will begin at the Olde Main Street Museum.
