First Night 2014 seeking street vendors
The planning committee for First Night Newcomerstown 2014 met Saturday, Sept. 27 to begin making plans to repeat the celebration from last New Year's Eve.
It is estimated that last year's event drew some 750 people to Newcomerstown for the first-ever First Night Newcomerstown 2013. Before the evening was over, those in attendance expressed a desire to do it again this year. The Bicentennial Committee is sponsoring First Night Newcomerstown 2014 as the final event of its year-long celebration.
We want to encourage local businesses to be open as part of the celebration. Additionally, this year we also want to include street vendors that frequent county fairs and local festivals. Vending space will be made available along the routes between the six entertainment venues.
The First Night Committee's meeting dates will be the third Saturday of each month for the remainder of the year, i.e., Nov. 15 and Dec. 20. The meetings start at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Newcomerstown. All are welcome to attend.
