Veterans' trip canceled

The Washington D.C. trip, planned by Newcomerstown area veterans organization for Oct. 5-8, has been canceled due to a lack of participation.

Blood drive set

The American Red Cross will have a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 23 from 1 to 6 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newcomerstown.

Candidate night

West Lafayette Lions Club will have a Candidate Night on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Schumaker Farms, front produce building, West Lafayette.

Trivia returns

Trivia will resume on Friday, Sept. 18 in the Newcomerstown Library Annex.

The questions will begin at 7 p.m. Gather your team of no more than six, and call the library at 740-498-8228 to register.

Categories for the night will include: Did you myth me?; It's your birthday; Scarlet Fever; Time Machine; Well-Seasoned; and What's on tonight?

There will be prizes for the winning team.

Chicken

barbecue set

The annual chicken barbecue to benefit the Newcomerstown boys' basketball team is set for Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Touraine Club parking lot. Pick up between 1 and 5 p.m.

The meal includes half Montel's famous chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans, and roll for $8.

Retirement luncheon set

The monthly Kurz Kasch retirement luncheon is set for Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at April's Country Kitch'n in Newcomerstown.

Farmers' market continues

Newcomerstown Library's Farmers' Market is now open from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday through the second week of October in the parking lot of the Newcomerstown Public Library.

There is no fee to set up, but each vendor must fill out a form at the library to participate. Interested vendors may call the library for more information at 740-498-8228.

Single moms group

Are you a single mom who needs a break, some answers, hope, wisdom, help? Join the Single Mom's group meetings on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at RaChard's Coffee Cove, 209 W. Main St., next to the Feed Barn.

Based on the book,"Hope and Help for the Single Mom," The 21 Principles of a Healthy Single Mom written by Lori Little.

The series is sponsored by the Victory Assembly of God and is free of charge.

The Newcomerstown Public Library now has notary services available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The services are free of charge.

TOPS meets on Tuesdays

TOPS, Taking Off Pounds Sensibly, Chapter 2227, in Newcomerstown, has meetings each Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Newcomerstown.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
