Candidate night

A "Meet the Candidates" night is set for Thursday, Oct. 29 at the St. Francis de Sales church hall at 7:30 p.m. Candidates for Newcomerstown school board, Newcomerstown Village Council, Newcomerstown Mayor, Newcomerstown Board of Public Affairs, Oxford Township Trustees and Clerk will meet the public. Each candidate will be introduced and allowed three minutes for introduction and a brief of his or her goals and interests. A question and answer session will follow.

Election day

dinner

A pork and sauerkraut dinner is set for Election Day on Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fiat St. Peters UCC.

The menu will include pork and sauerkraut, real mashed potatoes, applesauce, hot dogs, Amish bread, cake and pie.

A free will offering will be taken and donations will help mission work and church needs.

Crafting

afternoon

A "Make-It and Take-It" crafting afternoon is planned on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Newcomerstown Library Annex. Celebrate Autumn's arrival at the Newcomerstown Public Library with a free make and take craft for adults. They will be making decorations, fall-themed paint cans. Participants may sign up at the front desk at the library.

Homecoming parade entries

The Newcomerstown High School Student Council would like to invite the community to take part in the annual homecoming parade on Thursday, Oct. 15 beginning at 4 p.m. at the high school. Line-up is from 3:30 to 4 p.m. The route will be Oak to River to Church to College to Main to Goodrich and back to the high school. Retirement luncheon set

The monthly Kurz Kasch retirement luncheon is set for Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at April's Country Kitch'n in Newcomerstown.

Hog roast planned

The Light in the Valley Ministries will have its seventh annual Fall Harvest Hog Roast on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the 101 W. Canal St., Newcomerstown.

There is no charge.

There will be fun, food, craft sale and entertainment.

Breakfast, square dance

A breakfast at the Tunnel Hill Community Center, 112 E. Maple St., Stone Creek, is planned for Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. a A free will offering will be accepted.

Later that night, there will be a round and square dance from 8 to 11 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

Craft show planned

The 25th annual Christmas in the Village Craft Show will be Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the David Barber Civic Center, 1066 E. State Street, Newcomerstown.

Area crafters will be set up to sell their hand made items. Included in these will be crocheted items, plastic canvas items, recycled items, lighted bottles, wreathes, wooden items, glass items, candy, baked goods, jewelry, garlands, small decorated trees, all natural products, greeting cards, embroidered items and much more.

Lunch stand by NERS will be available too.

Parade entries sought

Entries are being sought for the 2015 Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov. 28.

Line-up is at 4 p.m. at the Cy Young Park and the parade moves at 5 p.m.

Farmers' market continues

Newcomerstown Library's Farmers' Market is now open from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday through the second week of October in the parking lot of the Newcomerstown Public Library.

There is no fee to set up, but each vendor must fill out a form at the library to participate. Interested vendors may call the library for more information at 740-498-8228.

Exercise available

Tunnel Hill Community Center, 112 E. Maple St., Stone Creek, will be open on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. for walking, exercise, playing cards, or visiting with friends.

If someone wants to make a quilt or learn hand quilting, call Pauline at 330-308-0709. She is hand-quilting in a hoop.

Single moms group

Are you a single mom who needs a break, some answers, hope, wisdom, help? Join the Single Mom's group meetings on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at RaChard's Coffee Cove, 209 W. Main St., next to the Feed Barn.

Based on the book,"Hope and Help for the Single Mom," The 21 Principles of a Healthy Single Mom written by Lori Little.

The series is sponsored by the Victory Assembly of God and is free of charge.

The Newcomerstown Public Library now has notary services available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The services are free of charge.

TOPS meets on Tuesdays

TOPS, Taking Off Pounds Sensibly, Chapter 2227, in Newcomerstown, has meetings each Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Newcomerstown.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The meal is free but donations are accepted.
