Student of the Month

Congratulations to Dylan Little for being selected as the November Student of the Month for Newcomerstown High School. Dylan is a senior at NHS who is a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Leadership Council. Academically, he is a three year Academic Honor Award recipient. Dylan is also a member of the football and wrestling teams at NHS. His future goal is to pursue a degree in electrical engineering at the University of Akron. The staff at Newcomerstown High School commends Dylan for his accomplishments, and we wish him the best of luck throughout his senior year and with his future goals.

Midterm for the Second Grading Period

Midterm for the second nine week grading period will be Friday, Nov. 20. Midterms will be mailed home to parents. Parents are reminded that they can monitor their son or daughter's grades by logging into Progress Book.

Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at Newcomerstown High School on Friday, Nov. 20. The blood drive will be held in the Media Center, and students must be 17 years of age to donate. However, students who are 16 years of age may donate blood with parental consent.

Guest Speaker

Adam Helbling will be speaking to our student body at Newcomerstown High School at 9 a.m. in the gym on Monday, Nov. 23. Adam is an Ohio native who attended The Ohio State University and led the Ohio State Waterski Team to a 2010 Division Two National Championship. He was very involved at Ohio State, and in 2008 he was selected as one of 24 seniors at Ohio State to be a member of the SPHINX Senior Class Honorary. In January of 2011, bipolar disorder combined with drug abuse led to a car accident that left Adam paralyzed from the chest down. As stated on his web site, "As Adam learned that he had paid the ultimate price for his mistakes, he chose not to wallow away in self-pity. Jostens at Buckeye Career Center

Jostens will be picking up cap and gown order forms from our NHS seniors on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 a.m. at Buckeye Career Center.

Thanksgiving Break

School will not be in session on Nov. 26-30 for Thanksgiving break. School will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

December Dates

Dec. 17 and 18--Semester Exams- Periods 1, 3, 7 and 9 will be tested on Dec. 17. Periods 2, 4, 5/6 and 8 will be tested on Dec. 18.

Dec. 17 -- High School Band and Choir Concert at 7 p.m. at Newcomerstown Middle School

Christmas Break -- Dec. 21-Jan. 1- School will resume on Jan. 4.
