ZOARVILLE -- Indian Valley claimed a sweep of a wrestling triangular match with host Tusky Valley and Ridgewood Wednesday. The Braves defeated Ridgewood by a 54-15 score and then added a 54-26 win over Tusky Valley.

Indian Valley wrestlers picking up two wins were Dalton Butcher (106), Adam Lenhoff (120), Zach Deibel (132), John Pankuch (195), Alec Love (220) and Tanner Quillin in the 285-pound division.


NEWCOMERSTOWN -- Ridgewood High captured the title in the annual Inter-Valley Conference wrestling championships at Newcomerstown High on Saturday.

The Generals tallied 451 points to take the top spot in the team standings with Garaway runner-up with 398, Sandy Valley was third with 289 points, Malvern finished fourth with 122 points and the host Trojans took fifth place with 97.

RHS coach Nate Carpenter shared the IVC Coach of the Year honors with Cedric Gerber of Garaway, with Colton Bethel of the Generals tabbed as IVC Wrestler of the Year.

Bethel took the 113-pound championship with a perfect 5-0 mark to lead the RHS effort.

Other champions for the Generals were Cody West (120), Kyle Bethel (138), Kolton Alexander (152), Kasey Bethel (160), and James Kedigh (220). Abram Buckler (170) finished second for RHS while Jason Stubbs (182), Tyler Caudy (132) finished in third place and Javon Merrill (145) each turned in a fourth place finish.

Dylan Little led the Trojans effort by taking the championship in the 132-pound weight class with a perfect 5-0 mark, with Austin McMullen (195) turned in a second place showing, while Gannon Baker (126) collected third place and Brandon Moore (152) earned fourth place for Newcomerstown.
