MAGNOLIA -- Newcomerstown's boys team placed third in the Sandy Valley Fall Classic Invitational Saturday, while the Ridgewood boys finished eighth.

Neither Newcomerstown or Ridgewood had enough runners in the girls' race to record a team score.

In the boys' small school race, East Canton was the team winner with 63 points followed by Western Reserve Academy (69) and then Newcomerstown with 87 points. Ridgewood finished eighth with 172 points.

Demetrius Snellenberger of East Canton was the individual winner with a time of 16:07.07.

Pacing the Trojans of Newcomerstown was Jacob Robinson in 10th place in 18:15.71. He was followed by Anthony Sanders (15th, 18:50.65), Hunter Garretson (16th, 18:52.88), Brody Lehman (19th, 18:59.83) and Dylan Garretson in 32nd place in a time of 20:12.92.

Scoring for the Generals of Ridgewood were:Fred Doberstein in 20th place with a time of 19:14.80. He had support from Justin Conner (31st, 20:07.63), Kyle Moses (39th, 20:53.51), Chris Spiker (41st, 21:09.23) and Dakota Crites (52nd, 22:32.93).

In the girls' race Fairless was first with 19 points followed by Dalton (50) and host Sandy Valley with 64 points.

Running for the Lady Trojans of Newcomerstown were Trew Davis who finished 13th in 22:41.70. She was followed by Lacey Davis (24th, 23:41.69) and Destiney Grewell (45th, 26:34.05).

The lone runner for Ridgewood was Elizabeth Lintz who finished 38th with a time of 25:55.83.


CANTON -- In the 48th Annual Malone University Cross Country Invitational Saturday, the Indian Valley girls finished fourth after finishing tied with Tuslaw with 132 points but losing on a sixth person tiebreaker, while the boys were sixth with 161 points.

In the girls' race, Lexington was first with 48 points followed by Marlington with 72 and then Tuslaw and Indian Valley with 132 points each.

Pacing the Lady Braves individually was Brittney Roth who finished third in a time of 19:73.3. She was followed by Shannon Regula in sixth (19:54.8), Celina Mayforth (23rd, 21:19.1), Alex Piraino (39th, 22:06.7), Mikayla Baker (67th, 23:19.1) and Alexis Pasquinelli (98th, 25:54.4).

In the boys' race, Lexington was first with 47 points followed by Tuslaw with 53 points and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin third with 73 points.

Scoring for Indian Valley was Hunter Probert in 16th place in a time of 17:19.2. He was joined by Trevor Ault (20th, 17:29.2), Garrett Mozena (27th, 17:51.2), Adam Lenhoff (36th, 18:03.2), Troyer Mitchell (68th, 19:06.5) and Clay Riddle (69th, 19:06.6).
