NEWCOMERSTOWN - Charles J. Woodby, Sr., 64, of Newcomerstown passed away on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019 at Union Hospital. He went to his heavenly reward.

He was survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Meckley) Woodby of 43 years; sons, Charles J. Woodby Jr. of Newcomerstown and Dustin Woodby and companion Ocie of West Lafayette; adopted daughter, Terri Meckley of Newcomerstown; granddaughters, River A. Woodby of Massillon and Shala P. Walker and husband Brennen of Coshocton. Charlie was born in Baltimore, Maryland July 13, 1954 and was the son of the late Thomas and Rosa (Buchannon) Woodby.

He was a dispatcher at Newcomerstown Police Department for 38 years and served his community well. He loved his community and family very much. He was very active in the church. Charlie loved singing in the church choir and helped with the childrens church camp for many years.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Billy and Melanie Woodby, David Woody, Cathy and Lee Bryant all of Newcomerstown, Kenny and Dreama Woodby, Carl and Tina Woodby, and Peggy and Bill Vohs all of Coshocton; sisters-in-law, Debi Breeden of Cambridge, Dawn Fries, Cindy Marker, and Patti Free all of Newcomerstown; and special friend, William Striker of Newcomerstown. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Harold Fries and Joseph Breeden; and his nephew, William Breeden.

Services will be Monday, April 22, 2019 at 5 p.m. at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown with Chaplain Jim Reed officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from to 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Dinner will be held after the service at the David Barber Civic Center.
