A familiar face has joined Tastee Apple as the new vice president of production.
Chad Hackenbracht, son of owner Greg Hackenbracht, is now the third generation of Hackenbrachts to continue the strong tradition of quality that started with Greg's late father, John. John started the caramel apple company in 1974. Greg is the owner and president and said he is thrilled to see his son Chad come on board.
The father-son duo has been together before in business when Chad was a NASCAR driver. Tastee Apple was a sponsor for the #44 car. Chad tasted success when he was part of the winning 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series owners championship driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Coming on board at Tastee Apple has always had a place in Chad's heart and now that the opportunity presented itself, he seized it. Chad plans to continue the strong tradition of producing quality caramel apples while expanding off season product lines.
Chad is no stranger to the operations in the caramel facility. When he was 8 he decided it was a good idea to ride an office chair down the ramp into the caramel room during the busy season. That ride in the fast lane landed him in a trip to the emergency room with a broken collar bone. Chad never as much even got a splinter while NASCAR racing.
When asked about how he felt following his Dad's footsteps, Chad replied, "I feel very confident following in my father's footsteps. Throughout my racing career we worked together on various business ventures and have always had a strong relationship. He is obviously a very intelligent businessman and I know he will always be there for me to call upon, besides no one knows caramel apples better than him."
