WOOSTER — The Wayne Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its 71st annual meeting and banquet at The Barn, 877 W. Main St., Smithville. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8. The meal will be family style and will consist of chicken, ham and roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, homemade bread, pie and a beverage for $15. Children 4-12 will be $10; ages 3 and younger free.
There will be election of two supervisors for the Wayne SWCD board. Voting will take place before and during the banquet from 6-7 p.m.
Guest speaker will be Sarah Jamison, senior service hydrologist from the National Weather Service in Cleveland and Buffalo, New York. Her presentation will be "Localized Weather Forecasting and Observations, And Why it is Important to Your Cooperators and Your District." Jamison will discuss her role in producing localized forecasts as well as the tools and observations necessary to produce them.
All meal tickets purchased will receive two complimentary tickets that can be dropped into a drawing of your choice. To receive the complimentary tickets, you must present your meal ticket at the door.
A video highlighting conservation practices, along with awards, will be presented after the meal. Awards include the Conservation Farm Award, Bicentennial Farm Award and Education Award.
Purchase tickets at the Wayne SWCD office in the lower level of the County Administration Building from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. by Oct. 22.
