C.R. "Dick" and Ruth Lower, 507 Wood Ave., Newcomerstown, will celebrate 60 years of marriage on July 20.

The former Ruth Burdette and Dick were married in Greenup, KY, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy in 1949.

The couple has called Newcomerstown home most of their married life, although they have spent many winters in Florida where they are both very active in their church and retirement community. Brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Nellie Lower, Bakersville, honored them with a surprise 60th anniversary party while in Florida this past spring. The event was attended by many of the couple's friends from their Florida community.

Parents of the couple were the late Elmer and Nettie (Loos) Burdette and the late Clyde E. and Erma (Storm) Lower.

Their children include Stephen (Deborah) Lower, Newcomerstown, and Paula (Steven) Lauer, Waterville, Ohio. They also have four grandchildren, Adam Lower, Newcomerstown; Abby (Brandon) Hendrick, Centreville, VA; Emily Lauer, Sumter, SC, and Andrew Lauer, Waterville.

Ruth was homemaker most of her adult life, and Dick retired from the W.M. Brode Co. after 46 years of service.
