Jamie R. Clark and Michael P. Mayo exchanged marriage vows and rings Aug. 8, 2009, in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony at the David Barber Civic Center, Newcomerstown. Mayor Steven B. Guy performed the wedding service. Organist was Shari Grewell, aunt of the bride.

Parents of the bride are Leman and Penny Clark, Newcomerstown, and the groom is the son of the late Lori Dent of Jacksonville, Fla.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride carried out the tradition of an old-fashioned wedding. She wore her sister, Desiree Welch's wedding dress as "something borrowed." The A-line white strapless gown was designed with corded lace, all-over beading and a long train. A teal sash was added to the waistline and held in place with a silver brooch, "something old" from her grandmother, Freda Clark, Newcomerstown. In her hair, the bride wore a "blue" flower given to her by Desiree, and for "something new" the bride wore a diamond tiara. The bride's garter was made by her aunt, Cheryl Porcher of Newcomerstown. A coin given to the bride by her mother was worn in the garter.

Matron of honor was the bride's sister, Desiree, and bridesmaid was Amanda Lyons, Akron, friend of the bride.

Best man was Matthew Dent, Piedmont, Ala., brother of the groom.

Shawn Parks, Newcomerstown, friend of the groom, served as groomsman.

Flower girl attendants included Jillian Welch, Newcomerstown, niece of the bride, and Jaelynn Mayo, Jacksonville, niece of the groom.

Ring bearers were Jaxson Mayo, son of the bride and groom, and Adam Rilat, Jacksonville, nephew of the groom.

Mrs. Porcher made the ring bearer pillows and Jaelynn's dress, and Angie Welch, Newcomerstown, made Jillian's dress.

Guest book attendants were Amanda Grewell, Newcomerstown, and Emily Fender, New Bedford, cousins of the bride.

Flowers for the wedding, including orange gladiolus, white calla lilies, roses and ivy vines were from the bride's mother's flower beds. The bride's bouquet, attendants flowers, corsages and boutonnieres were designed by the bride's mother.

Aisle bows, table decorations and centerpieces, wedding cakes and mints were made by Marci Clarkston, friend of the bride, and Mrs. Porcher. The cake top was used in 1953 on the wedding cake of the bride's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Grewell, and on the bride's parents' wedding cake on Aug. 4, 1979, also on the wedding cake of the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Desiree and Kris Welch on July 8, 2006.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the KL Welch Lake and was hosted by the groom.

A 2004 graduate of Newcomerstown High School, the bride graduated in 2008 from Jacksonville Community College with an associate degree in office administation and is employed with Twin City Hospital.

The groom is a 1999 graduate of Channel Island High School of Oxnard, Cal. He is a chef for Chalet in the Valley, Charm.

The couple went to Hocking Hills for their honeymoon and reside at 588 S. River St., Newcomerstown.
