Applications accepted for Tuscarawas County Woman of the Year Award

DENNISON -- Dennison Railroad Depot Museum is excited to gear up the annual Lucille-Nussdorfer Tuscarawas County Woman of the Year Award banquet with the acceptance of applications now open for submission.

The awards banquet will be Aug. 19 as a kick-off to the American Soldiers Homecoming Aug. 20-22.

This prestigious award is named after Lucille Nussdorfer who started the Dennison Servicemen's Canteen that served 1.5 million soldiers and created the lasting name of Dreamsville, USA, for the area. Nussdorfer is one of only two Tuscarawas county woman who have been inducted into the Ohio Governor's Hall of Fame. The Woman of the Year Award is given to a woman who works or lives in Tuscarawas County and who has followed in Nussdorfer's footsteps by making an impact on the quality of life in the area.

Applications for nominees are available at the Dennison Depot, the Tuscarawas County Convention & Visitor's Bureau Welcome Center and online by e-mailing the Dennison Depot at The deadline is June 11. Previous recipients include Phyllis Van Horn in 2007, Connie Finton in 2008 and Martha Campbell in 2009.

Completed applications may be returned to the Dennison Depot. The award will be announced at the 2010 banquet.
