NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The Tuscarawas County Pork Producers recently announced the recipients of the 2016 Tuscarawas County Pork Producers scholarships of $500 each.

This year, the Pork Producers were able to award 22 scholarships totaling $11,000. These awards are financed with funds from the sales of sandwiches at the Tuscarawas County Pork Producers stand at the Tuscarawas County Fair.

The following are the local recipients:

/ Brooke Beaver of Stone Creek will graduate from New Philadelphia High School this year. She has bene an active 4-H member for 10 years. Beaver will be standing Central Ohio Tech College pursuing a career in diagnostic medical sonography.

/ Justin Green of Newcomerstown will graduate in 2016 from Newcomerstown High School and Buckeye Career Center. He will be attending Hocking College where he will be studying forest management.

/ Kelsie Hinds is a 2013 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. She is studying at OSU and is active in the Dairy Club, Bible Group, and Showpig.com. All-Star Team where she worked with youth in the swine industry. She is studying agriculture and business.

/ Lincoln Shaw graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 2015. He is attending Miami of Ohio where he is pursuing a degree in biology and animal genetics.

/ Kaylee Stephen is a 2015 graduate of Indian Valley and is studying Agribusiness at Kent State University. She is interested in the field of extension education.
