BALTIC -- A six-month-old child who was seriously injured in a horse-drawn buggy accident Jan. 1 has returned home from the hospital.
Roseann D. Mast, the infant daughter of David W. and Susan E. Mast of Baltic, was flown by helicopter to Akron Children's Hospital. She initially was listed in guarded condition with a head injury.
Eight members of the Mast family were treated in hospitals after the crash on State Route 93, two miles northeast of Baltic, which took place at about 5 p.m.
Reports indicate that the buggy was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Daniel F. Boone Jr., 63, of West Lafayette. He, reportedly, said he never saw the buggy because of a sharp curve and the sun was in his eyes.
The family's horse was seriously injured and had to be euthanized.
Boone, was not injured, and was issued a citation Jan. 2 for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
