Carter Eberwine of Coshocton stands in the middle of the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho waiting to spot a mountain lion.Seventeen-year-old Carter Eberwine was able to harvest this mountain lion during his holiday break from school.Carter's quest for a mountain lionCarter Eberwine, 17, of Coshocton, got up at 5 a.m. Christmas morning and flew to Spokane Wash., to begin his quest for a mountain lion. He spent the next week in the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho near the Montana border. He traveled between 50 and 100 miles per day on snowmobiles looking for lion tracks in 20 degree weather with an average of 5 inches of new snow per day. He had to struggle through snow up to four feet deep for over 2 1/2 hours to get to the tree near the top of a mountain.His perseverance paid off as he was able to harvest his lion on Dec. 31, the last day of his hunt.
