Roger Quillen is originally from West Lafayette. In fact, his parents, Richard and Barbara, still live there. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1971.
Quillen named to 'Most Powerful Employment Attorneys -- Top 10 for Labor Law'
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Fisher & Phillips LLP Chairman and Managing Partner Roger Quillen has been named to "The Nation's Most Powerful Employment Attorneys -- Top 10 for Labor Law."
Quillin is originally from West Lafayette and a graduate of Newcomerstown High School.
Human Resources Executive magazine compiled the list of influential employment attorneys on the basis of curriculum-vitae analyses, evaluations by clients and peers, and reporting by the staff of Lawdragon, a Los Angeles-based news and networking site for lawyers and clients.
Quillen has served on the firm's management committee since 1997 and has been the firm's Chairman and Managing Partner since 1999. He has held this position during a period of rapid growth for Fisher & Phillips. The firm has added 16 offices between 1999 and January 2009. The firm also established several important practice groups including the Global Immigration Practice, the Employee Defection and Trade Secrets Practice and the Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice. The firm now has more than 225 attorneys and is listed in The National Law Journal's 250 largest law firms.
Quillen's practice involves litigation covering a wide range of employment discrimination issues, employee welfare benefit plans, the Railway Labor Act and issues arising before the National Labor Relations Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. His special emphasis is in federal appellate litigation. He has argued cases in most of the federal courts of appeals, with subject matter ranging from review of NLRB decisions to class action arising from changes in retiree health insurance plans. He also represents employers in collective bargaining and counsels them on strategies designed to prevent claims and lawsuits.
Quillen has received repeat recognition as a "Georgia Super Lawyer," a Georgia "Legal Elite" and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. From 1990 until 2001, he co-authored Labor and Employment Law in Georgia (LEXIS Publishing).
He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law With Honors in 1980. He also holds a Master's of Science Degree from Purdue University and two Bachelor's Degrees from The Ohio State University.
