UHRICHSVILLE -- Brad L. Hillyer, judge of the Tuscarawas County Court/Southern District in Uhrichsville, July 2, announced the resignation of Donald J. Ryan, Chief Probation officer. Ryan served the court in this position for the past 10 years, following his lengthy service with the Ohio State Patrol and as Chief of Police for the Newcomerstown Police Department.

Ryan served as Chief Probation officer under both Judge Brad L. Hillyer and Retired Judge Hudson Hillyer. He always conducted himself in a professional and courteous manner. He was a loyal and dedicated employee and he will be missed by all of the staff, Hillyer said.

Additionally, Judge Hillyer announced that Mark A. Ridgway of Newcomerstown will become a Probation Officer at the court. Ridgway, a Tuscarawas County Deputy Sheriff, has served at the court as a part-time security officer for the past 2 1/2 years. He has been a Deputy in Tuscarawas County for the past 16 years. Prior to that time, Deputy Ridgway served in the U.S. Army Military Police Corp. This service included a six month tour of duty in Saudi Arabia and Iraq during "Operation Desert Storm." He also served in a the Army National Guard and completed an 18-month tour of duty in Kuwait and Iraq during "Operation Iraqi Freedom."
