Alligator spotted in river
An alligator has been spotted in the Tuscarawas River, near the State Route 258 bridge, Newcomerstown. Newcomerstown Police Chief Tim Miller said the alligator will be removed, with the assistance of the Tuscarawas County Wildlife Officer, from the river in order to protect those near the water. As to how the alligator got in the river, no one is sure. Back in July of 1949, two men reported seeing an alligator in the Tuscarawas River near Port Washington.
