Bed bug information program scheduled for July 13NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Ohio State University Extension will sponsor a bed bug program on July 13 at Jim's Place, 228 W. High Ave., New Philadelphia. The program will begin at 7 p.m. with questions and answers to follow.Bed bugs have become "a horrible problem" in areas throughout the United States, with many health departments reporting escalating complaints. Although bed bugs have always been a problem in some regions of the world, single-home residences, apartment complexes, nursing homes, senior living centers, hotels and motels in Tuscarawas County are now being affected by their growing numbers. This brings home the fact that anyone can have bed bug problems -- even four-star hotels. Bed bugs aren't associated with filth or poverty. They can hitchhike anywhere!Topics to be discussed include identification, life cycle, habits, injury, prevention and control.Join Ohio State University Extension in welcoming Dr. Susan C. Jones, Ph.D., associate professor of entomology, extension specialist, and member of the State Bed Bug Taskforce as she presents information about this very timely issue. There is no cost to attend.
