PORT WASHINGTON -- When Port Washington Village Council met recently, a vote was cast to enact an ordinance to rezone a portion of the village.
Council voted 4-to-1 to rezone 404 E. Main St. from residential to business category for the purpose of building and operating a beauty salon. Present at the meeting were several residents giving their views on the re-zoning. Solicitor Michael Cochran will present an ordinance at the next meeting for a vote to accept or reject the ordinance.
Police chief Shawn Nelson gave the police report for the month of September, saying that the department was on patrol and doing a good job.
Trick or treat night in the village was set for Saturday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. The fire and police departments will be on duty patrolling at that time. Candy will be distributed at the fire station for trick or treat as usual.
No action was taken on the resumes for the positions of fiscal officer and tax administrator at the meeting.
Action was tabled until the next meeting.
