PORT WASHINGTON -- When Port Washington Village Council met, council discussed "Welcome to Port Washington" signs to be erected at each end of the village.

Street department will check into the possibility of exactly where the sign should be placed. No sign have been purchased at this time.

A get well card was sent to Rick Swiger, street commissioner, who is recovering from surgery.

Mayor Tom Gardner reported the next meeting of council will be Dec. 29 for the purpose of closing the books for 2009.

Councilman John Bourne said the Delaware Valley fire association will no longer loan chairs to anyone.

Councilman Joe Bourne said Santa Claus will be at the fire station Dec. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. for the children of the village and Salem Township.

Breakfast will again be served at the fire station on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 8 to 11 a.m.
