Coshocton native helping with Haiti relief
Navy Petty Officer Third Class Rachael Stephenson, a native of Coshocton, is currently deployed onboard the Guided-Missile Cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), which has returned successful from its relief efforts in Haiti.
USS Normandy is presently back in its home port of Naval Station Norfolk after conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in the wake of the Jan. 12 earthquake. USS Normandy, with its compliment of helicopters (Helicopter Anti-submarine squadron Light 46) made them well-suited for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response missions.
Petty Officer Stephenson is a Electrician's Mate responsible for the operation and repair of the ship's electrical power plant and electrical equipment. Her father Ronald currently resides in Coshocton.
