Students visit Washington, DC and area sites
WASHINGTON, DC -- Meredith Evans of West Lafayette and Hans Kneuss of New Philadelphia were among 35 high school winners from throughout Ohio who visited Washington, D.C. and other points of interest June 11-17 as part of Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives Inc.'s Youth Tour to the nation's capital.
The week-long trip included a visit to the U.S. Capitol and other areas of historical significance. The student was awarded the tour in a scholastic competition sponsored by The Frontier Power Company of Coshocton, a Touchstone Energy cooperative. The sophomores and juniors joined 1,500 other rural youths representing 44 states and several countries. As part of their tour of the nation's capital, students met with members of their Congressional delegation, visited Arlington National Cemetery and attended a performance at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.
Evans is the daughter of Richard and Jill Evans, and Kneuss is the son of David and Jennifer Kneuss.
