The 60th anniversary of the troop train accident near West Lafayette in 1950 will be the program topic for the West Lafayette Branch Library's next "History Series for Adults" this Monday, Aug. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Local historian, Dan Markley will be sharing memories of the train accident that occurred just outside West Lafayette on Sept. 11, 1950, when 33 National Guard troops from Pennsylvania lost their lives. Anyone interested in facts about the accident is welcome. Space is limited and reservations are requested by calling 545-6672.

The West Lafayette Adult Book Discussion Group will meet Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Linda Breyer, 513 Plainfield Rd., West Lafayette, to discuss the book, "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett.

Teen Movie Night at the West Lafayette Branch Library will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. "Alice in Wnderland (2010)" will be the featured movie. Admission is free and popcorn and pop are provided. Teens are asked to register by calling 545-6672.

Coshocton Friends of the Library will have their annual book sale in the basement of the Coshocton Public Library on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. In addition to bargains on books and movies, a silent auction will be held for books of higher value. Auction items are on display in the book sale room for preview only. There will be no early sales. Book sale shoppers should use the basement entrance off the side parking lot. All proceeds will benefit the Coshocton library, West Lafayette library and the Bookmobile. Senior adults age 55 and up are invited to join in a cup of coffee and conversation when Coshocton library's Coffee Club meets at the library Monday, Aug. 9, from 10:15 a.m. to 12 noon.
