Schools to place levy on ballot
The Newcomerstown Board of Education met in special session Aug. 2 to approve the resolution to proceed with placing a 9.2-mill replacement levy on the November 2010 election ballot.
Board member Vince Nay voted against the measure.
The levy was first approved by voters back in 1991. The money generated from the levy goes toward the general operations of the school district such as salaries, utilities, supplies, insurances, etc.
Meanwhile, the board also approved the employment of Lindsey Parsons as a high school chemistry and physics teacher at a salary of $34,510.
The board will meet again Monday, Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. in the high school.
