Nc'town to have freshmen, new student orientation

Newcomerstown High School will be hosting freshmen and new student orientation Thursday, Aug. 19 beginning at 6 p.m.

Parents and all members of the public will be welcome to tour the high school from 5 to 6 p.m.

Orientation will begin promptly at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Students and their parents will have the opportunity to hear about curriculum, careers and pick-up their schedule, which will be discussed by the guidance counselor, Melissa Cork.

They will also get locker assignments and combinations.

Tim Sherman, the principal, will talk to students about the school day, school policies, expectations they have for the students, and the requirements of the tenth grade Ohio Graduation Test (OGT).

Matt Ritzert, assistant principal/athletic director, will discuss school rules and the consequences for breaking those rules and athletics.

There will also be time for any questions that students or their parents may have, and you will be given the opportunity to walk through your schedule, find your locker and open it.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors will be receiving their schedules and packet of forms in the mail. Student requests for any schedule changes will only be addressed after the start of the school year by seeing Mrs. Cork.
