COSHOCTON -- A Columbus man was killed and three other motorists were injured during a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 36 near Coshocton Tuesday (Jan. 25) afternoon.

Robert Sherry Sr., 73, was pronounced dead at Coshocton Memorial Hospital following the collision at approximately 3 p.m.

His son, Robert Sherry Jr., 45, of Loveland, was also transported to the hospital in Coshocton before being flown by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

As of last Wednesday, Robert Sherry Jr. was listed in "fair" condition at the Columbus hospital.

A second passenger, William Peddicord Jr., 63, Newcomerstown, was taken by ambulance to Coshocton Memorial Hospital, along with the driver of the second vehicle, Steven Adams, 54, of Coshocton.

A nursing supervisor said neither man was listed as a patient at the hospital, as of last week. Additional information regarding their injuries was not available.

According to the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office, Adams was turning onto U.S. 36 from Township Road 104 when he failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle driven by Robert Sherry Sr., which was westbound on U.S. 36.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

The accident remained under investigation by the sheriff's office.
