Newcomerstown Schools' kindergarten registration has been set for April 14-15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, S. College Street, next to the East School.
The times are April 14 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m.; and April 15 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2011. It is most important that all children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall come to registration. The child will be given a speech and hearing test, Brigance test, and vision screening. Parents must bring immunization records, birth certificate, social security number, and in the case of a separation or divorce, parents must bring proof of custody. Registration does take some time so plan to bring your child when you have extra time.
It is our suggestion that you make registration a special day for your child. Parents sometimes fix the child's favorite meal that day, purchase a lunch box or take the child out for ice cream.
This year all children who attend registration will be given crayons, scissors, a pencil, and glue stick for use at home. Parents will be given a Kindergarten Handbook and many suggestions to use to help children best prepare for entering school.
