GNADENHUTTEN Board member Larry Holmes will serve as the Indian Valley Local Board of Education president. The board elected Holmes to the position at its meeting Jan. 9.
Vice President of the board will be Kathy Roth.
The board also set its regular meeting dates as the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Indian Valley High School library.
Members also approved the board member compensation at the maximum rate allowed by law (currently $125 per meeting) with a maximum compensation level of 18 attended meetings per year.
Other appointments included:
Legislative Liaison and Student Achievement Liaison for 2012 Betty Quillin.
OSBA Student Achievement Liaison for 2012 Quillin.
Delegate and alternate to the 2012 OSBA annual business meeting at the Capital Conference in November 2012 Bob Hall, delegate; and Quillin, alternate.
Buckeye Career Center representative for next two years (Jan. 1, 2012, to Dec. 31, 2013) Francis Picchetti.
Board of education committees include:
Transportation Hall and Quillin.
Food Service (new) Holmes and Roth.
Facilities Hall and Picchetti.
Finance Picchetti and Roth.
Technology One to One (new) Picchetti and Roth.
Curriculum Holmes and Quillin.

In other business, the board approved the renewal of property, liability and auto (fleet) insurance coverages with Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, Don Kennedy, agent. The policy is effective from Jan. 10, 2012, to Jan. 10, 2013. The annual premium is $84,793.
The board approved the following items:
OSBA membership for January through December 2012 with annual dues at $4,389.
Inter-District Open Enrollment Policy and Intra-District Open Enrollment Policy for the 2012-2013 school year.
Donations from Allied Machine, Project Lead the Way, $400; and IV Athletic Boosters, locker rooms, $1,000.
Sonja Teague as substitute cook, Paula Contini as substitute custodian, Lydia Quillen as before/after school tutor at Port Washington Elementary, Kristin Pittis as high school and middle school secretary, James Katicich as a bus driver, David Bolz as substitute bus driver, and Wynn Haun as substitute secretary.
Resignation of Nina Hooker as middle school guidance counselor for retirement purposes, effective March 1.
The board also entered into an approximate two-hour executive session to discuss a public employee.
The boards next regular meeting is set for Monday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
