COSHOCTON -- There are two key points that set Miller Funeral Home in Coshocton apart from other funeral homes.

First, they offer the latest in the newest technology available and, second, they are a family-owned funeral home verses a corporate-owned and operated funeral home.

Owner Matt Miller grew up in this area by having graduated from Tri-Valley High School in Dresden. He went on to Ohio University-Zanesville and later received his bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for 14 years, including five years at another funeral home in Coshocton.

Since 2004, Matt, his wife, Valerie, and their three children, have called Coshocton home.

It was about one year ago that Miller Funeral Home officially opened in town. The facility was formerly the Century National Bank location and has undergone major renovations, including a 5,200-square foot addition.

Some of the details that people will appreciate include: A covered entrance to a spacious main lobby, special children's room, a private kitchen for families, an in-house video system that allows for recording of the service just to name a few. The facility also boasts two large showing rooms for visitations and funerals.

Miller also offers cremations, online memorials, pre-planning and after care as well which is something that is unique to the area.

In terms of Miller's perspective, he said he wants to treat people as they would want to be treated by keeping the family values in the forefront. He is also building on his word-of-mouth reputation.

He said being from the area is something that he hopes families will see that the reputation and sincerity is something to be valued.

Other members of his valued team include, Jim Lapp, Jim Baylor, Amy Brown, John Sutton and Jeff Thorpe.
