April Students of the Month
April Students of the Month were recently selected at NMS. These students will be recognized at this month's board of education meeting, and will also be treated to lunch in the near future at Terry's Pizza by Mr. Peoples.
Austin Gano, son of Amber and Justin Gano, was chosen by the sixth grade teachers as April's student of the month because he always comes to class with a positive attitude and ready to learn. He participates in ELA daily answering DOL questions, and works hard to reach his short term goals. Austin is prepared for class and is responsible when absent to make sure he turns in all assignments. Austin is very respectful in class and to his peers, and it is a real pleasure to have him in all his classes. Austin's favorite class is science because he enjoys using the Netbooks nearly every day, and feels that the three best things about Newcomerstown Middle School are the good teachers, the time spent in the auditorium playing knockout, and talking with his friends. Two of Austin's extracurricular activities or interests include collecting coins and playing football, and he feels his greatest accomplishment in life so far has been saving his brother from drowning in a pool . . . TWICE! The best piece of advice Austin has ever received was from his parents who said, "Always do your best!" In the future, Austin hopes to become a scientist.
The seventh grade teachers selected Tristan Bryant, son of Mike and Deana Bryant, as their student of the month for April because he displays a positive attitude to his peers and teachers, and because he is a conscientious, dependable worker who often helps others, including teachers, with computer issues. His teachers really enjoy having him in their classes. Tristan's favorite class at NMS is science, since astronomy has been an interest of his for a couple of years, and he feels that one of his strengths is technology. Some of Tristan's outside interests include playing video games and reading, and in fact, in the future, Tristan hopes to develop video games. When asked a few fun facts about himself, Tristan said that one thing he can't live without is the internet, and if he could be any animal, he would be a red fox. So far in his life, making the honor roll every 9 weeks is his proudest accomplishment.
Eighth grader Dylan Little, son of Brian and Harriet Little, was chosen as April Student of the Month because his teachers feel he is a tremendous asset to the eighth grade class. He is outgoing, actively involved in extra-curricular activities, and has a great sense of humor while also knowing when it is time to get serious. Dylan is supportive of his peers and demonstrates great leadership qualities and potential. He is definitely on the road to much success in life. Dylan's favorite class is American History because he likes his teacher Mr. Marsh and enjoys learning about history. Some of Dylan's hobbies/extracurricular activities include hunting, fishing, riding dirt bikes and four wheelers, playing football, and hanging out with friends. He feels that the best thing about Newcomerstown Middle School is that all the teachers are very nice, and feels that some of his strengths are being good at sports and getting good grades. Some fun facts about Dylan are that his favorite meal is Cocoa Pebbles, his all-time favorite book is Where The Red Fern Grows, his worst fear is mice, and he doesn't think he could live without his friend Gage. The best advice Dylan has ever received came from Mrs. Donna Yoder, who told him that he should eat more happy meals so he'd stay happy. So far in life, Dylan feels his greatest accomplishment has been going to state in wrestling three times, and in the future, Dylan's plans are to go to college to become an electrical engineer.
