It was an evening to recognize, celebrate, and honor. This was the general goal in putting together the first annual Moose (Newcomerstown Post 1337) Veterans Ball according to local veteran, John Crosswhite.
The evening consisted of reminiscing, and sharing photos from their days in the service. A special photo exhibit was on display with members being judged for most handsome member in uniform, which Crosswhite was chosen. John Keffer was chosen as favorite veteran of the year.
The colors red, white, and blue were used for the theme and decorating. Bill Couts was given an award as being the oldest living member of the Moose Post 1337, and Jim Shaffer was recognized for being a member of the Moose for the longest period of time.
A free dinner, and drink were provided for each veteran attending. Denny Ross was guest speaker, and presenter of awards.
According to Crosswhite the event was successful and enjoyed by all in attendance. He said the event is being planned again for next year.
