DOVER -- The Norma Johnson Center (NJC) will host a fishing derby on Saturday, June 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration will take place from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
The event will take place at the pond located behind the yellow pole barn on Route 39. The derby is free and open to all children up to the age of 18 and all participants must register during the specified time listed above.
Children who do not have a fishing pole but would still like to participate should call the office to make arrangements.
Prizes will be awarded throughout the day, along with special age category winners to be announced at 11:45 a.m. There is no charge for the event but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The derby is sponsored by the Tuscarawas County Chapter of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation in conjunction with the Ohio Division of wildlife.
The event will be canceled if it rains and rescheduled for a later date. The Norma Johnson Center is located on Route 39 between Dover and Sugarcreek.
