The Newcomerstown Board of Public Affairs is planning ahead for 2013.

The board heard from Lee Conkel of L-CON Engineers LLC of Pickerington about the proposed Force Main (wastewater) project which includes the replacement of an 8-inch sewer line on College Street as well as the rehabilitation of the Canal Street and Walker Court lift stations.

Conkel said the proposed project will cost $366,500 to complete with grants and funds available to assist the village. He said he needed the board Aug. 13 to approve the $12,000 cost for the engineering and design phase of the project. The board approved the amount.

The project, once grant applications are complete and funding is secured, is anticipated to begin in July 2013.

In other business, Conkel also addressed the change order needed to complete the Scott Drive Life Station rehabilitation project. A change order of $28,052.25 from Zembra Bros. of Zanesville was presented to the board for unforeseen adjustments that had to be made at the site in order to complete the project.

But, Conkel said, with the change order, the village got a brand new lift station.

In other business, Utilities Superintendent Don Walkup said he would look into grant money from Homeland Security to try to fence in around the water treatment plant.

The board will meet again Monday, Sept. 10 at 4:30 p.m.
