Church of Christ to have gospel meeting

The Newcomerstown Church of Christ will have a gospel meeting Nov. 11-15. Their special guest speaker, Terry Jones, has chosen the theme, "One on One with Jesus," for the week's lessons. There will be lessons on Sundays at 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 6 p.m., and then Monday through Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited and admission is free.

Jones is a graduate of East Tennessee School of Preaching in Knoxville, Tenn., and received degrees on Ohio Valley University. He worked with the church in Mountain City, Tenn., from 1986 to 1989, and has preached in Pennsboro, W.Va., ever since. He has preached in gospel meetings and lectureships in West Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Indiana and Virginia. He has also made mission trips to the countries of Moldova and Ukraine. In addition to preaching, Jones teaches at the West Virginia School of Preaching and serves on the board of director of West Virginia Christian Youth Camp. He is also a writer for "West Virginia Christian" and has twice served as its lectureship director.

Gospel music planned

WEST LAFAYETTE -- The presence of God will be felt Friday, Nov. 30, in the First Baptist Church, West Lafayette, when the Soul'd Out Quartet makes its appearance.

The Soul'd Out Quartet is based out of Georgetown, Ohio, and is a group of five young men who write and perform gospel music.

They sign everything from contemporary Christian music to old hymns passed down through generations.

The quartet is returning due to overwhelming requests from last year's performance.

It will be a free concert with a love offering to be taken during the event that will go towards helping the group with expenses.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and performance starts at 7 p.m.

Turkey Supper and Bazaar planned

PORT WASHINGTON -- The annual Turkey Supper and Bazaar at St. Paul's United Church of Christ is set for Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. The church is located at the corner of High and Arch streets, Port Washington.

The menu includes turkey and dressing, real mashed potatoes and gravy, noodles, green beans, assorted salads, assorted desserts, bread and beverage.

The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children (ages 12 and under). The meal is open to the public. Carry-outs are available.

Thanksgiving Eve service set

The Newcomerstown Calvary United Methodist Church Charge and St. Paul's Lutheran Church will have a Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church, located at the corner of State Street and Heller Drive, Newcomerstown.

Pastor Kenneth Hacker will deliver the message and Calvary UMC Charge will provide snacks and drinks for fellowship afterwards.
