SUGARCREEK -- The Tuscarawas County office of Ohio State University Extension will hold an agronomy school on Feb. 7 at the Union Hill United Methodist Church from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The church is located at 7877 Union Hill Road NW, just east of Sugarcreek.

The school will bring together a variety of experts to present a number of timely agronomic topics.

Presentations for the morning include: Improving Soil Health, Jason Undercoffer, NRCS; The 4 R's of Fertilizer Stewardship, Kevin Elder, Ohio Department of Agriculture; and NRCS/FSA Program Updates by Harry Kenney and Dave Baird. Afternoon topics include: Weed Control Strategies for 2013 and Managing Weed Resistance, Dr. Mark Loux, OSU Extension Weed Specialist; Utilizing Cover Crops to Improve Grain Production, Alan Sundermeier, OSU Extension educator; and Investing in Irrigation, Dr. Larry Brown, OSU Extension Water Management specialist.

Pesticide applicator recertification credits have been requested for private and commercial applicators and continuing education credits have been requested for Certified Crop Advisors.

A copy of The Midwest Cover Crops Guide will be provided to all attendees, compliments of Farm Credit Services.
