GNADENHUTTEN -- Kathy Roth was elected president of the Indian Valley Local Board of Education during its meeting Jan. 14.
Francis Picchetti was elected vice president.
The board of education meetings were also set as the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Board of Education Office, Gnadenhutten.
In other appointments, the board named:
Betty Quillin as OSBA Legislative liasion, OSBA Student Achievement liasion, and delegate to the 2013 OSBA annual Business Meeting in November 2013. Bob Hall will serve as the alternate to the annual meeting.
The following committees were established:
Transportation -- Hall and Quillin.
Food service -- Quillin and Roth.
Facilities -- Hall and Picchetti.
Finance -- Picchetti and Roth.
Technology One-to-One -- Picchetti and Roth.
Curriculum -- Larry Holmes and Quillin.
Athletics -- Hall and Holmes.
Insurance -- Roth.
Audit -- Picchetti and Quillin.
Levies -- Picchetti and Hall.
Negotiations (classified) -- Roth and Picchetti.
Negotiations (certified) -- Hall and Picchetti; Quillin is alternate.
It was also determined that board members will receive $125 per meeting with a maximum compensation level of 18 attended meetings per year.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Port Washington Principal James Kennedy for retirement purposes with his last date of service on Feb. 15, 2013. He served as the elementary school principal for the past four years. Kennedy will be finishing his 35th year in education in February.
The board approved a plan for an Interim Principal to finish the 2012-2013 school year upon Kennedy's retirement. A thorough selection process will be conducted to identify a principal to being in August 2013.
The board will meet again Monday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Indian Valley Local Board of Education Office, Gnadenhutten.
