No tree pick up

The Newcomerstown Street Department is not currently picking up Christmas trees that are placed along the curbstrip. Village officials ask residents to not place their trees in that location.

Quilting to resume

Quilting will resume on the Newcomerstown Bicentennial quilt on Friday, Feb. 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. and will continue every Friday after that until it is finished.

The location has been changed from the Temperance Tavern Museum to the Newcomerstown Library Annex upstairs.

All quilters welcome.

Friends of the Library to meet

The Friends of the Newcomerstown Public Library will meet (weather permitting) on Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Library Annex.

Dues are payable at this time, which are $5 a year. Anyone who is interested in the library or helping at their activities are welcome to attend.

Swiss steak dinner

GNADENHUTTEN -- A Swiss steak dinner is planned for Saturday, Feb. 16 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Gnadenhutten Moravian Church.

The cost of the dinner is $9 and carry-out is available.

Roast beef dinner set

The Cy Young Days Festival Committee will be having its annual roast beef dinner on Sunday, March 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at Dick's Place, Newcomerstown.

The menu will be roast beef with two sides, roll and butter, dessert and beverage.

The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Tickets are available from Ed Gibson, Gary Chaney and Dick's Place.

Donations sought

Donations are being sought for the annual Cy Young Youth League auction set for Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. in the Laborers Local Hall, corner of Main and River streets, Newcomerstown.

They are asking for donations of merchandise or gift certificates.

The youth league serves approximately 300 boys and girls in ages 5 to 16.

Pansy baskets for sale

Support the Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee by purchasing a pansy basket.

The spring pansy baskets cost $15.95 each (total cost) and include six plants.

Pre-paid orders are due by Feb. 18.

Retirement reception

Join in a retirement reception honoring Pat Cadle, West School principal.

Cadle is retiring at the end of January with over 30 years of service to Newcomerstown Schools.

Stop by and wish him well in his retirement. The reception will be in the West School library on Jan. 31 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome!

Adult grief support group

COSHOCTON -- A weekly adult grief support group meets every Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Health Services and Hospice of Coshocton, 230 S. 4th St., Coshocton.

Exhibitors sought for show

COSHOCTON -- Exhibitors are now being accepted for the 2013 Coshocton Home & Lifestyle Show to take place March 9 and March 10. The show benefits Habitat for Humanity of Coshocton County and is in its fourth year.

The successful show annually draws approximately 45 exhibitors and 1,000 visitors. Focusing on all things relating to the home, its contents, and its care, the show will take place at the Coshocton County Career Center. Parking is free and there is no admission charge for attending.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off

Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
