The Newcomerstown Bicentennial community meeting that took place Thursday, March 21 at the David Barber Civic Center was a great success.

Various subcommittee members from the Bicentennial Planning Committee gave presentations.

They hope to make more inroads into our community to encourage participation from our citizens in the various events.

One exciting work-in-progress is the beautification of the downtown area starting with the placing of live flowers around the town (provided by Barbara McNeilly of The Garden Basket). Flower boxes are being made to accommodate beautiful, healthy petunia plants. A local civic organization, the Rotary Club, has been hard at work to make many of the boxes.

Excitement is building toward our big, big year-long celebration of the bicentennial year 2014.

The Bicentennial Committee meets on the second Saturday of each month at the Newcomerstown High School from 10 a.m. to noon.

Anyone interested in attending should contact Pat Cadle or any of the various committee members. They are on Facebook (Newcomerstown Bicentennial 2014). You are all welcome to help us improve our little village.
