DOVER -- The AARP Drive Safety Program is aimed at senior drivers and those concerned about a senior driver, their safety, and the safety of others on the road. The program, co-sponsored by Union Hospital and the American Association of Retired Persons, will be Friday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Union Hospital's Rosenberry Conference room. The cost is $12 for AARP members; $14 for non-members and includes class materials.

No driving or written tests are given or required in conjunction with this program.

Register the program by visiting (click on "Health Events") or call the Union Hospital Community Relations office at 330-602-0778.

The class includes a review of the rules of the road and tips on safely operating an automobile while taking into consideration changes that come with age, such as reduced night vision and longer reaction times.

Some insurance companies offer discounts to those who complete this course. Discounts are normally extended over a three-year period; after that time, the driver must renew the certificate. It is best to check with your insurance agent to determine whether a discount applies.
