A Newcomerstown youth riding his bicycle in the vicinity Baker’s IGA was struck by a vehicle traveling on South College Street Monday (June 10) afternoon upon riding his bike out of a parking lot at the store.
Authorities declined to release the boy’s identity.
The boy was reportedly taken by MedFlight medical helicopter to Akron Children’s Hospital. He was reportedly unconscious when emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.
No information regarding his condition was available.
The boy was reportedly struck by a Ford Expedition driven by Newcomerstown resident Mabel Amore, 43. Village police Chief Gary Holland reportedly said it didn’t appear Amore was at fault.
The accident remains under investigation by Newcomerstown police.
