GNADENHUTTEN -- Students attending grades 1-12 in the Indian Valley Local Schools are set to begin classes for the 2013-2014 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Kindergarten students will once again be phased in during the first week of school. Students with the last name beginning with letters A - L will start Wednesday, Aug. 21, M - Z will begin on Thursday, Aug. 22 and all Kindergarten students will attend for the first time together on Friday, Aug. 23. Starting time for students will be 8 a.m., with the school day ending at 3 p.m.

Bus routes will be the same for many students, but there will be some changes. The student's bus driver will call the home to notify parents in advance of the pick-up time. Lunch prices for the 2013-2014 school year have been set. Type A lunches for grades K-5 will be $2.25; reduced lunch is $.40; grades 6-12 will be $2.50; reduced lunch is $.40; adult lunches are $2.75. Extra milk or juice will be $.50. Breakfast will be available at all buildings. Cost for breakfast will be $1; reduced breakfast $.50. Supply fees are $40 for students in grades K-8. High school students' supply fees are determined by classes taken throughout the year. Parents with students in grades K-8 are offered a $5 discount if they pay their fees prior to Oct. 7.

Supply lists for Midvale and Port Washington Elementary students are posted at the buildings and also available on the schools web sites. Go to and click on either Midvale or Port Washington to find the link to the supply lists.

Any Kindergarten students who still need to register and be screened can call Midvale Elementary at 330-339-1191 or Port Washington Elementary School at 498-8389 to schedule an appointment. Your child must be 5 years old by Aug. 1 to register.

Senior Citizen passes for athletic events are again available at all buildings. A new pass is required for the 2013-2014 school year. The pass is available for anyone age 60 or older and living in the Indian Valley district. Proof of age and address is required.
