Back to School Fair

The annual Back to School Fair will be Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at the West Elementary School.

The fair is hosted by the Newcomerstown Teachers' Association and Project HOPE.

All Newcomerstown preschool through fifth grade students and their families are welcome to attend! There will be many area vendors and agencies on-site to hand out information. Also a healthy snack and free haircuts will be available.


community meeting

The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee will be having a community meeting on Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the David Barber Civic Center.

They would like to report our progress and answer any questions that the community might have. They will also be having the drawing for the GI Joe drop that will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 2 at Lee Stadium.

Tickets are still available at Baker's IGA but time is running out. Pick up your tickets before the Aug. 15 and you might be the $25,00 winner.

Election of officers

Cy Young Youth League will be having a meeting of election of officers and coaches on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Little League Field pavilion.

G.I. Joe Drop planned

The Newcomerstown Bicentennial Committee is sponsoring its first ever G.I. Joe Drop to be held on Labor Day (Sept. 2) at noon at Lee Stadium, Newcomerstown.

Tickets are $1 each and are on sale now. Tickets are available at the American Legion, April's Country Kitch'n, Baker's IGA, Cy Young Lanes, Dick's Place, The Elks, Medi-Wise Pharmacy, Terry's Pizza Shoppe, Tony's Cafe and The Touraine Club.

A drawing for the top 10 finalists in the Labor Day drop will take place Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at the community meeting at the David Barber Civic Center, Newcomerstown.

The top winner in the drop will win $2,500.

The second prize is a three-minute shopping spree at Baker's IGA. The final eight prizes are to be decided.

The G.I. Joes are on display at Baker's IGA in Newcomerstown.

Retirement luncheon set

The Kurz Kasch retirement luncheon will be Aug. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at April's Country Kitch'n, Newcomerstown.

All are welcome.

Farmers market set

GNADENHUTTEN -- A farmers market will take place every Saturday at the Town Hall Square in Gnadenhutten from 8 a.m. to noon through the last Saturday in September.

There will be fresh produce, baked goods, eggs, honey, maple syrup, beef, sausage, jams and jellies, flowers, Avon, handmade crafts and more.

Adult grief support group

COSHOCTON -- A weekly adult grief support group meets every other Friday at 11 a.m. in the Health Services and Hospice of Coshocton, 230 S. 4th St., Coshocton. The next meeting is set for July 5.

Christ's Kitchen

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The meal is free but donations are accepted.

Sonshine Boxes drop-off

Bob Pell's Nationwide Insurance office, located at 117 N. Bridge St., Newcomerstown, is a new collection site for items to be sent to soldiers serving our country. Items may still be donated at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also in Newcomerstown. Sonshine Boxes consist of anything a soldier might need such as personal hygiene items, games, movies, etc.
